Sam Hurd and the Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Sam Hurd was arrested yesterday on Federal drug charges. Apparently he is a Cocaine and Marijuana king pin in Chicago…
Hurd apparently told an undercover agent he wanted to buy five to ten kilos of coke and 1,000 pounds of weed per week! That comes out to about $700,000 per week. When I heard that number my jaw almost hit the floor! Hurd was making less than $1 million per year with the Bears, so it looks like he was a drug dealer first and a football player second.
What a moron, there are thousands of talented players who would give anything to play a sport they love for a living. Hurd threw it all away and will probably spend the next 30 to 40 years in prison.
As for the Bears, they are still in the playoff hunt, but need to win out and have some help from other teams. We’ll see what happens, but I think this season may be close to over.
Hopefully I am wrong. And a win on Christmas day against the Packers would be a great present.
